Old Saybrook
Lens: Pentax 50-200mm WR Camera: Pentax K50 Photo Location: Old Saybrook Ct ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F5.6

I took this photo on my first outing with the Pentax K50 and the 55-200 kit after using a Nikon Lumia cellphone for a a few years. It was cold, windy and overcast. Is there anything I could of done to improve the photo? Does it seem a little underexposed or should I have composed the photo with more sea in the background showing?

Thanks, Scott

Please try again and upload it to this thread. Do not create a new thread but use the Edit button to add the photo.

If you read the instructions from the link below it should be easier to add your photo.

Good shot. The colors in the foreground are IMO what makes the photo interesting, but they lack a bit of intensity. Focus also seems a bit off and it could benefit from a different crop

I'm adding two examples showing how I would post edit the shot. I have added a little sharpness and color intensity. I've also made it a bit lighter. The first is slightly more cropped and the second has a different crop, concentrating on the bird and the foreground colors. Perhaps you had another intention with the shot, but this is my humble opinion.

Hi Bengan, After I shot and cropped this picture I realized there is some competition between the seagull and the rock green moss. I wanted to focus on the rocks mostly and left the seagull in to give proportion and a 2nd focus point to add to the theme. The scene looks better lightened up overall and like the cropped version of the sea gull. I wanted to keep the moss from looking too bright so I left it darker overall. If I had more experience in light room, i probably wouldn't have felt a little handicapped getting this picture where it needed to go. I appreciate your input. Thanks
