Sunset at Horseshoe Bend (Page, Arizona)
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Camera: Pentax K5IIs Photo Location: Page, AZ ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/4s Aperture: F8

Captured this image on a road trip through Utah and Arizona, got pretty lucky with the sky since it was fully overcast on the way to Page but the clouds scattered just enough at sunset to create those colors.

Nice shot of an iconic scene. Good fortune with the clouds!

Nice shot. This is a tough place to shoot unless you live in Page. The light here is so stark for most of the year that getting a good shot of it from out of town is more about serendipity. The classic shot here is with lightning in the distance. Never seen it done though.

Nicely done! I was there also at beginning of January in similar conditions. Whole area was covered in cloud except for a brief window near sunset. I used the 15-30 and I like your shot with the Sigma better because you managed to get quite a bit more of the sky in the frame. Nice color and terrific detail.

Great shot. I was there in Aug. but in the afternoon, lighting was harsh but I took almost the same picture. I was nervous about falling forward the entire time. Hope it was less scary for you!

Got very luck - I only had one chance for a sunset as I was doing a roadtrip and was on a schedule. The whole drive from Zion to Page it looked like I won't be able to take a good shot due to weather and then it cleared just 30 min before I took this shot!

Thanks! Yes the Sigma 10-20 did a good job here, I was worried I'll loose detail vs my primary lens (Pentax Ltd. 20-40) but I was positively surprised at how it turned out.

I was more worried about all the other people who were taking way more chances than I did just to get that perfect shot.

Right place at the right time, looks like we were a week too late ...

The picture looks amazing as-is, but as you asked initially, maybe some ideas to try for post-processing: To me, the rocks look a little bright in relation to the sky - as there is no obvious source of light for the foreground, it's a bit disorienting, hard to get a sense of sunset. A slightly distracting detail is the distant mountain range. With the haze as bright as it is, I'd try to reduce the blue a little bit.

I have seen so many photos of this place but never tire of it, there is always something different about the light. This is as good as any of them. Well done. Certainly this is on my bucket list.
