Perhaps try a square crop. Both have unnecessary empty space where the first one the tree ironically mocks the ungraceful pose of the subjects.

The first one. Second has a huge "hole" in the foreground. Although I agree with the above comment-- the tree trunk does seem to be mocking the couple. Also there is a lot of CA, to the point it really intrudes.

If there is enough margin left in the frame you could experiment with this. Just an idea, nothing more.

Hey LeDave,

I would go with square or portrait and a tighter crop.
I'd recompose to not have the branches/shrubs in the foreground covering part of their legs/feet. And with the rock on the left, it feels like it neither in nor out (if that makes sense!)
As the others said their pose is really awkward looking.
I find the light too hard. Maybe try in softer light.
Hope this helps :-)

Yeah, I like Schraubstock's crop ... it's all about the couple, I reckon, and the Dutch tilt gives a dynamism to match the energy of their pose.

The edges of their clothing has a halo that I was referring to when I mentioned CA. It may be due to excessive sharpening, although elsewhere it did not seem to have been sharpened. In any event it is very severe/too obvious.

Thanks, I have not sharpened the photo at all. It might be the lens.

Are you sure the sony is not doing something rather aggressive in the in-camera processing to yield the file? Not that I have any experience w/ sony--it's just the look of the image.

Could be Sony's lossy RAW compression, if that setting's on.

Now, Dave, you're a good guy, we all know that.

If you've switched brands, can you show us your shots we can't take with Pentax? Just haven't seen 'em so far.

I don't think I have one yet, but this is my best shot I've taken with my a7iii so far.

It *is* a lovely photo, Dave, and the couple would have been rapt when you showed them - you're doing the ceremony, too?

Nope, this is my sister and soon to be new brother in law, I am just shooting this for practice and a free engagement session. They hired a legitimate photographer for their actual wedding.
