Beach Scene
Lens: Pentax 20-40 Ltd Camera: K-3II Photo Location: Devon, UK ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/1000s Aperture: F8

I did a series of images on my local beach over last winter. This is a low res copy of one of them.
Processed in On1 Photo RAW.
edit: seems I can't correct my error in the exposure info...in fact it is 40mm 1/200 f/16 100 ISO

Comments very welcome.

VERY nice shot! I love the fact that the dog only has one paw on the sand, the rest in the air!
Action everywhere!

I like the low tones and black and white a lolt but the combination of the running dog and birds makes the forground a bit too crowded for my liking. Otherwise, a nice and atmospheric image.

Very nice scene. Interesting to see tourist sites when the sun ain't shining and the tourists aren't there.

I think the good thing about this picture is the different almost abstract shapes of the two leftmost birds in flight and the dog. They imply lines (in the direction of movement) that create a nice "invisible" geometry to the picture, giving it a dynamic feel. At first I found it a pity that the animals are completely blacked out and hence lacking detail/texture, but on second thought that only helps this geometric aspect of the image.

I also think the picture would improve greatly with some cropping of the left part, probably to a 4:3 format. Apart from cutting out empty space that in this case only distracts from the motive, it would place the second bird from left center image, where it would nicely bisect the image with a slanted line (again implied). Possibly a 6:7 format cropping out the rightmost bird (2nd birdie from left still in center) would be even better, further distilling out the geometrical aspects and improving the composition.

Everything about this works for me...the action in the forground grabs my attention right away and then I am further drawn up to the boardwalk and the waves; and not in a distracting way. A very pleasing scene...thank you for sharing
