Black & White bear in black and white

i would like some feedback on how this image works as a black and white image as well as input on composition and technical aspects.

I think works really well, B&W was a good decision

Thank you. I really like the simplicity of good black and white images, but I am trying to learn what works well and what does not.

It's a great image, well processed, and works really well. The vignette helps, the highlights are pure white, good contrast. But most of all it's the subject. Such a great natural model. Captured at the right time, while taking a pause from the constant pressures of life.

Thank you. It was one of my older images I was going through and it just hit me that it might work well in black and white. I played with the conversion a bit and was fairly happy with the outcome.

Yes,I like this photo a lot. The expression on the bear: what is he thinking?

I would suggest cleaning up a couple of white specks just above the bear's head just to tidy things up a bit.

May I ask where it was taken and the circumstances? At a Zoo? Were you at a safe distance from the bear?

I would love to say I took this in the wild, but the truth is it was safely taken at the Denver zoo. The bear's position and expression drew me to take this shot.

I think it works very well. You almost see every hear on the bear.

I like the way the lighting draws you to the face. Excellent b/w photo! My tendency to tight framing would crop some from the top and left sides, but that is just personal preference.
