Which do you prefer?
Lens: Sigma APO 120-200 F4.5-5.6 DG HSM OS Camera: KP Photo Location: Belfast, Maine ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/80s Aperture: F9

Taken with my Sigma 120-400 APO OS HSM while down on the beach (such as it is,) in Belfast Maine.
I cropped it differently since the tidal junk does not go all the way across, even after cropping in the landscape orientation.

I would say the first. I like how that dark line lines up with the center log and how the log exists in space. The light is more dynamic also.

First one definitely. It does seem to be sharper and more vibrant. The composition is better but I would consider removing some distracting elements. The stick/bark at 1 o'clock for instance.

cheers

I did not even notice that when I was trying to get the shot. Since I rarely chimp, I guess there was no way to see that when I was more concerned with the hole, not the whole! And now it is past high tide so everything has either shifted or is gone now.

Another vote for the first one, definitely focussed sharper as presented here.
