As this is “rough wilderness” you shouldn’t be hemmed in with fences or official walkways, so the only suggestion I have is to work the location. We often shoot one viewpoint instead of moving around, trying different viewpoints, changing from horizontal to vertical, varying the shutter speed, getting feet (and tripod legs) wet in the process. That would be my suggestion.
