That bokeh is WOW. So smooth. Lovely portrait, too.

Great lighting and colors (not to mention an attractive model) but the image is a bit softer than I'd expect. Ordinarily I'd think it was an AF calibration issue, but a bit of pixel-peeping on your part might be in order.

The image is actually quite sharp on her left eye CB. You can count the eye lashes and even see my own reflection! I think the light has a lot to do with the appearance of softness, as well as the very shallow depth of field. Thanks for the compliments and advice. I am only just starting to explore portrait photography. I know I can't blame my equipment. The K-1 and D FA*50 mm are professional class tools.

Composition wise having her face smack bang in the middle of the frame weakens the image.

The bright out of focus notice boards on the left of the frame are a distraction. I think if you took a step to your left hand side and shot with only the walkway behind her you may have been able to eliminate that.

Glad to hear it, though you might get some different opinions on which eye (if not both) needs to be in "critical focus." (FWIW, it might also be that your hosting website might not be doing you justice--I don't think the one here at PF, for example, has that great a reputation.)

Otherwise, a great start of bringing a lot of elements together...

I would suggest cropping a little off the top and both sides.

The left eye from her or your perspective?
If you mean the one in the shadow:
--> I don't do much portrait photography, but I think the general opinion is to focus on the eye nearer to the camera if only one eye is in focus.
otherwise ignore that

I also affiliate with Mike L, a step to your left might would have been better composition wise.
