Falun Mine
Lens: M 28/2.8 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Falun, Sweden ISO: 3200 Shutter Speed: 1/15s

From a very old mine (today a museum) in Falun, Sweden. I've deliberately left much negative space to give some sense of the surrounding space and darkness (wish I'd had an even wider lens). I also know it's a bit tilted but I'm not sure if I mind? Also decided not to crop it though I realise there are plenty of options for doing so. Any comments and critique welcome!

Interesting picture of the important mines of Falun. The Swedish wealth back in the 14th and 15th century was built on the copper mined in Falun.
Personally I like it, but I think you should have exposed it a little brighter so the center stood out a little more. Although back in the days of mining I can imagine how dark it must have been as they only had the most primitive lighting available.

I want it to be a little tighter so there is more bright area to explore but in general like the larger amount of dark negative space. It almost feels like an unfinished Rembrandt painting where he just needed to put some worker in.

Mining in that era was not an inspiring job but without such work civilization would be much different today .

Nicely done, I also wish it was a bit tighter.

Agree with others about tightening it up. I zoomed it on my phone screen so that basically all of the lighted portion fits with just a slim border of dark all around and I think it looks awesome. The smooth dreamy lighting of the lit section really comes out then. Moving the phone a little I feel I can see the flame flickering on the wagon wheel.

It's a great photo. When I using VR box to look at this photo, it seems like I am in the cave. However, if there are some details on the bottom of this photo as a foreground, that would be perfect! Anyway, it's an expressive photo.

I like the black space around it, but I agree you could have shot for the highlights and let it be slightly more bright in the bright areas.

The negative space is needed, but i agree, it a wider lense would be better. A bit tilted yes but not a problem with this composition. This is a good photo.

This photo shows a grim place at it's best . Try to imagine choking dust , dust and the blood sweat and tears that can't be seen now .

I'd correct the tilt, personally, and probably bump the exposure by a third of a stop, but I can see what you are going for.

Proper amount of light. Very nice place. I would make dark areas darker.
