Portrait of Norah
Lens: 50mm 1.8 Camera: Pentax K-3ii

This is a shot I took of my granddaughter. I just wanted to see what everyone thinks about the lighting, composition, and pose. I also welcome any suggestions on how it can be improved.

I am no expert but I think the shot works well. Definitely a little cutie and caught at just the right moment. Nice little smile!

It looks a little dark on my monitor. I would consider lightening it up a bit especially around the face and towards the back of the head. Other wise pretty nice

Thank you Brooke. My first edit was a color version and it looked ok, but this picture just seemed to be made for black and white. I appreciate the kind words and constructive criticism from everyone.

I think this looks good in BW. Composition is good, but her feet at cut to short I think, but I guess you had reason for it.
Contrast is good but i would prefer a little backlighting to frame her head a some more and create a distinctive separation between subject and background.

Pose is good, that's always tough with a baby. Next time I'd try to fill the light up her forehead a bit, or try to do that in post. I think ti works well in black and white. She's a cutie!

I really like the expression. But I am not unbiased as my son has 5 months. Children are awesome!

Great image, just add a little light in PP to her face!

I would put the light a little higher or add a some fill light to make the same effect in camera.

Marvelous...I would crop a little bit from left, and I would prefer to include feet if possible... But it is for decades to admire...

Nicely done! A great shot to use for embarrassment in 20 years or so!
