Old castle
Lens: CZJ zoom 85-210 Camera: Praktica BX20 or similar Photo Location: Borghetto, Italy ISO: 160 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F11

This is a film shot, no post processing therefore somebody might find it boring in comparison to digital ones.

The film was Portra 160 and I also used a linear polarising filter to help with color saturation.

Yes nice colours.

Now you have it in digital format there is nothing stopping you doing some minor processing. Leveling is what I have in mind, the tower has a distinct lean. Mind you it could be that way naturally, the Italians do have a reputation for leaning towers.

Since this is the critique forum ... I'd like to see the castle from a different angle so it's less of a straight-on shot of the wall. I don't know whether the water and trees allow such an angle. Since you're in the UK and the castle is in Italy it's not a trivial matter for you to revisit the site.

Not interested in minor processing, to be honest most digital pics I see here looks plastified and unrealistic in terms of sharpness, colors etc...film looks more like the things as I see them with my own eyes. Yes, it's more expensive and requires more skills but these are the only minuses.

Regarding the "tower" it's not leaning, part of it is damaged. It's not even a tower but the fortified gate of the village.

Actually I work in the UK but I spend my holidays in a place not far away from Borghetto, which is a famous place also used a set for movies and very interesting to photograph. I chose this angulation because I wanted to the river and the trees, but I have other picture of that fort from other angles, in this laptop however just in black and white.

This is a nice but a little underexposed (sorry new film) shot of the fortification from another angle.

I don't mind the face on capture. You have enough different elements, shape, colors and forms that overall it tells a complete story.
