This is a few years old, now, but I have all the RAW files and such and am considering re-editing it, seeking feedback. I went for a really extreme color story with this series (also on flickr), trying to get it very painterly.

You had the composition right, but her eyes seems out of focus...

She's, shall we say, rather three dimensional, and that may have contributed to shallow depth of field, but I suspect more it's soft corners from the lens being wide open.

I agree with this.

I like the composition, and pose. I think the lighting needs improvement. Her chest (while lovely) is the brightest part and therefore the focal point. I'd have used a reflector or speed-light from the right to light her face. If you have a flexible RAW you might be able to in post.

Yeah, I can bring her face up for sure, and reduce the highlights on her chest too, probably, thanks for the feedback! I had forgotten to bring my reflector that day, sadly.

Much closer.

Thought there's some color shifting going on with the chest giving it a greenish hue. I'd leave the chest and mostly focus on equalizing the face to match

You're headed the right direction though

The last edit turned out pretty nice I would say.

I like this style of very saturated colors though I usually don't use it for portraits. But the skin tones turned out nice in your processing.

Lovely composition. I largely agree with the comments here, although the rules are flexible and shot may have even worked better if the face was more OOF. But eyes in focus is the usual rule of thumb.

Anyway its a great shot to have and I think with tweaks suggested is still good image.

I hang between the first and third picture - I found both fantastic!
The first Look makes me say "wow" and it is still so.
The colors, the style.... and the woman makes me forget to look of the sharp ess of her eyes.

Thank you for showing, I'm not often See Portrait-Photos in this way.

Best regards,
Birk
