Landscape or Portrait?
Lens: SMC DA 35mm f/2.4 Camera: K10D Photo Location: Johns Creek, GA ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/90s Aperture: F8

I'm not sure which one I like best...

And yes I know the horizon isn't really level in the first one. The 2nd one is more accurate.

Lovely shot accentuating the tranquility of the setting.

The first one includes more of the fullness of the tree bases and branches.

I would do Landscape. The portrait makes a nice curve, but has too much of the concrete path in the picture. Landscape minimizes the Path and give more of a focus to the nature....just my impression

Hard to judge when the examples are so large that they fill the screen. Smaller examples that can be compared in the same screen view would help. Generally I find landscape more suitable for landscapes.

I like the landscape version better.

Those trees really tricks your mind.

More sense of motion in the 2nd with the vaulted ceiling of the tree branches and the curving path.

Landscape without hesitation. Too much uninteresting foreground in the portrait one and yes, the landscape image has to be levelled.

Thank you for all the kind comments!

While I agree that usually landscape works better for, well, landscapes - there's also aspects of the portrait shot that I like. Even though it seems there is a consensus that there's uninteresting elements in the portrait shot, to me it is a bit less "busy" than the landscape shot. I'll do a version with the horizon more leveled, and see if I like that best.

Landscape for landscape and portrait for portrait, most of the time. Landscape for this one.

Landscape as well. It's better in general for landscapes, and it's better for this case in particular, even if portrait orientation does make some sense.

Id say portrait only of the pathway is your focus. Otherwise Landscape

I like landscape too. Like Ginny said, it shows more of the trees and makes a nicer photo. I usually use landscape for landscapes, portrait for portraits. Nice photo!

Another vote for landscape... for me the curves just work better.
