Color, black and white or uncropped?
Lens: K 50 1.2 Camera: K-S1 Photo Location: Georgia, USA ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/5000s Aperture: F1.2

I was taking pictures of some decorations at the end of a kids party, and for some reason this picture really struck a chord with me... after I posted it in one of the Dlub threads, someone mentioned it should be cropped... so I did a crop, then a black and white crop. But for the sheer mood of it, I keep going back to the uncropped version... even though it's not perfect, technically. What do y'all think?

I really like colors and definition. Nicely accomplished.

i'm generally not in favor of blurred out objects in the foreground, so I like the crop. I'm also a big fan of B&W, but the color one catches my eye more here.

It's basically just a straight conversion to JPEG, the lens (K 50 1.2) did the work here...

To me the uncropped preserves the mood better... but it's good to hear that most people think the cropped looks better. I live and learn

Yeah there's probably too many color nuances that get lost in the black and white, but the luminance variation still made it worth the try, I think.

I actually like the uncropped the most strangely enough.

yes provides better 'context' and totally understand the crop or not to crop.....experience this quite often....original has the story/scene but the crop really shows off the subject making the decision quite difficult at times

The colour crop (only because the foreground is not sharp). I would get rid of that object on the mid left edge as it is distracting.

Colour and cropped for me, makes for a far stronger image IMHO.

Cropped and colored. I would have cropped more, to try to eliminate the small object on the bottom left as I find it distracting, but I realize this might also change the proportions or positioning of the other objects in an unpleasing way.

I don't like the angle of the shot on the subject. And the crop looks odd due to the long horizontal shadow lines. You're clipping those when I think a wider shot would accentuate those more. Almost like cutting against the grain.

Of the three I prefer the third shot.

I like the B&W as is. The cropping works as does the large negative space at the top. I also like the color cropped, although I could see cropping it a little bit more to get rid of the object bottom left and some of the negative space. I can see why you find the uncropped appealing, although it doesn't work for me as well as the other two.

Uncropped for me. The cropped version is more technically perfect, but it really loses character for me that way. Pretty, but i scroll on past. The uncropped version has a charm for me that is lost in the crop.
