I always like these happy surprises. I've gotten a few of them over the years and am always amused by them. The composition is meh and the detail on the grasshoppers face is blown out but a picture like this I care less about that than the expression. I would consider cropping it so it is a narrow picture. Keep the same height but crop the sides so that the grasshopper is tightly framed.

This is a GREAT shot, but the face of the hopper is too hot. Can you tone it down some? If shot in raw, and not done already, there is info in that area that you can pull out. A white point recovery function would help this with the raw file.

I think 4x5 not 3x2 making the head on the right third. focus is a little forward but good. I do these all the time and would be happy with this but I do this all the time and I can get better if you know what I mean. I have a thousand grasshopper pics. I keep only the best, Good picture, take more, replace, enjoy this one until it is replaced. The one thing I would think is if I can get that blue "zombie" mouth again.

I think I would have cropped it tighter still. I liked the vertical height of the first but would have like it trimmed thin like cut 25% of the left and right sides.

i would try to bring back some of the detail in his face. I would also maybe try cropping the image to leave him on the right side, peeking around to see you. I like the shot you got, good detail, and i like the colours you captured.
