Hybrid Nepenthes, pitcher detail
Lens: 135 Camera: Pentax 67II Photo Location: Backyard ISO: 250

HP5 @ ASA 250
Developed in Pyro PMK N+1
Printed on Galerie FB G3
Selenium toned

Pyro has several wonderful features that work great for circumstances with difficult lighting
or when I want to increase contrast without producing a grainy image

This sidelit close-up of a pitcher plant shows the texture of the peristome, as well as the
luminous lid

Ilford galerie and slightly blue selenium tonal range, yes, I remember it. Minimalist and effective composition.

Ciao Mario

Thank you Mike. I suppose that with blue selenium you refer to the
color of the print ? I use selenium toner because its reddish tint
neutralizes the greenish hue of Galerie FB papers. It did turn a few
papers violet to reddish blue. Those papers are unfortunately not
produced anymore.

Yes, in NIK one of the final settings is overall tone. I still like adding that to monochrome’s.

It didn't look as brown as many toned prints I see.
I am still learning how to make own prints.

The typical brown tone comes mostly from sepia toner, which emulates the "antique"
look of older photographic materials or, worst case scenario, the brown color of
poorly washed and fixed photos.
Selenium has a reddish hue, depending on the paper you are toning, and the color
depth depends on time and concentration. It is mainly used for archival purposes,
making the silver compounds more resistant to light, acids and alkalis
