Pretty, but if you darkened just the background, it would really explode.
The overall look is quite warm, I think a darkened background would make it look more natural.

I’m also a contrast freak!

I like the colors and the flower rendering but I find the bokeh a little bit busy and distracting...

I know it sounds crazy, but even in the sunlight using a flash could create even more dramatic subject isolation. Or conversely you can do it in post as suggested earlier by darkening the background.

I'll try to edit by thinning out the background. Thanks for your advice.

I wanted an unfocused background but one in which the shapes could be guessed, hence the bokeh is a little more "nervous". Thank you!

The bokeh is a bit busy, yes, but I like it, it gives the sunflower a context. Also the light on the petals is nice. Maybe a little bit more contrast on the flower?

I agree with this. It isn't so much the busy background as that the foreground sunflower doesn't pop out of the image or draw the eye. It needs to be brighter and maybe a little sharper
