I would crop some foreground for balance.

I love the simplicity of the photo, very minimalist. The contrast is good with the reeds and the man in the boat. As SpecialK suggests I'd loose a bit of the foreground... thirds. It would look great on a wall

I disagree with cropping the foreground. Your eyes are led from the shallows out to the deeper water taking you deeper into the photo.

Thanks for all your comments. The "to crop or not to crop" dilemma depends on how I print it.
If the foreground is printed with enough contrast to show detail at the bottom, it is interesting
enough to lead the eye into the composition (which is how it was taken). Printed with low
contrast in the foreground it works in a nearly panoramic format, but I find it less interesting

On reflection (no pun intended) I agree.

I don't consider myself an expert photographer, but have to say, I really like that image as is. In my opinion, I wouldn't touch it. It's great!

the graininess here really works. Its it just me or does the horizon seem a bit off?

Minimalism at its best ! Would love the fortitude at some point in time not to include additional elements and make a picture like this. Superb. Did you use a poloriser BTW ?

Oh, wow! When I see something like this, I ask myself if I could have captured this on flim.

Wonderful.

Salam Peter,

Beatiful shot and excellent composition, poetic and nearly sad landscape.
