Red wedding
Lens: Hartblei 45mm TS Super-rotator Camera: Pentax K1 Photo Location: Germany ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/20s Aperture: F11

These tulips were frozen in the cold that hit them during early spring, they likely did not survive the day. The lens was tilted to ensure that at least the few front rows were in sharp focus (Sheimflug). The background and the rows on the outer edge were intentionally blurred (using the selective focusing afforded by the TS lens) to amplify a early morning mood. The set up time it takes to get the desired frame from a tilt-shift lens is not be underestimated. I was at the site at 04:30 in the morning in sub-zero temperature to get the right amount of focus and depth.

beautiful in its starkness. the horizon is just barely off. I would have sharpened this or rendered it in HDR - but that’s just my style.

Gorgeous shot, although frost is an outrage.

The red wedding was a reference to Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin, look up "The Rains of Castamere"

Thanks John, much appreciated. While driving back, I could not feel my fingers and toes for a couple of hours :-/ , but as you said, worth the effort; OTOH, I managed to click a enough vertical frames for a single-row panorama as well, but this is sort of too large to share here; In smaller dimension (low pixel count), it looks a bit meh.

Very nice capture, with interesting tonality. Being almost OCD, the truncated tree at top right bothers me (just a bit), so I would perhaps crop slightly to remove it altogether.

That's moody and vivid, two things not often seen together. How do you feel the tilt results look different from simply using an ordinary lens at wide apertures?

a 45mm Wide angle at wide aperture would likely render a slice of tulips parallel to the sensor plane, in sharp focus and render the fore and aft as blur, in this image my intention was to have the fore and mid in sharp in addition to the ground which had a lot of texture to be blurred as well. Another way to do that would be hold a regular lens at an angle to the flowers to have the same effect, but one loses the framing/composition, unfortunately. Yet another option would be to use an ultra wide and crop - that would work except you lose plenty pixels.
