Heading home.
Lens: FA 35-70mm Camera: Pentax K-1II Photo Location: Mount Ruapehu ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F8

I've never posted a critique post thread before, so here goes. I was photographing the mountain when someone came walking along, which I felt made for a more interesting shot.

Lovely image. So much snow still - but then perhaps it's winter over there!

an endearing and has also some apocalyptic vibes to it (desolate and a single person on the road). pleasant composition as well. Here are some stuff to try just for fun and experimentation

1. vertical crop on the right side and a smidgen on the bottom - theperson on facing left, so cropping would bring focus to the person and make the story stronger
2. I wonder if you have another frame with the person in focus but witha wider aperture opening? more seperation between the person and road would look better IMHO
3. B/W conversion with separation between the person's clothes and the road - A pitch black sky would add impact (again IMHO)
4. Lifting shadows on the person's face a tad

All the best.

1. Will try that, thanks.
2. No, I only had time of a few shots and this one was the better of the two or three.
3. There's a plan. Will have a go at that too.
4. Great idea, thanks!

Great shot! Looks much better with a snow covering.

Nice shot... to me it evokes the theme of a singular soul wandering thru the desolation of life itself!

Thanks! Yes, it all looks a bit barren when there's no snow.

Definitely an interesting shot. Makes me wonder what he was doing on that road on his own

Ah, the benefits of framing the shot. Behind me was a parking area with a few cars and off to the right, about 200m up the mountain, a ski lodge. He was walking to his car.

I like the framing with the road into the corners, but the figure, being in the middle of the road raises a question in the viewer, why is he there?
There is no pavement and this could be the middle of nowhere, did he walk? I just think there is an unresolved back story. We know because we asked (above), without it the image is somehow incomplete. I still like it though.

This is how I would have cropped it. I also agree that B&W would make it more impactful. I did some light effects on the sky and the man.

I wish you could have captured him moving. This looks a bit too posed, I think. Still, an interesting shot.

Thank you. Are you saying a slower shutter speed with resulting motion blur would have been better?
I do like your crop.
