Macro Under and Over Armour

I've tried to edit each of these shots in a different way, experimenting for the first time with the channel options on Rawtherapee, as well as different crops.

I'd be interested to know which of these appeals the most for this image and a little insight into why?

The ISO was varied as was the aperture.

I like the first one as it is more natural. The next ones look dead, the BW loses the bug detail, and the next are too orangey.

Ta for the insight SpecialK; I know what you mean with the 'dead' look, it's not the direction I wanted when I found the cluster. Seems the balanced approach with the colour was the right way forward.
