Bowl of Clouds #2
Lens: Sigma EX 12-24 Camera: Pentax K-1 Photo Location: Crater Lake ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/320s Aperture: F14 

Nearing sunset on the East Rim of Crater Lake National Park. It was my first visit to this hauntingly beautiful place.

The higher view point has its advantages (more background) but I actually liked the framing of the first one better. It gives a better place to the actual subject (the 'bowl')
Regarding the light, both are nicely lit; once again I think for my taste the other one works better (soft unsaturated colors).
On this one (#2), i would actually suggest to lower contrast and saturation a bit But that's just my personal preference!

I agree with victordeamorin. I liked the framing of the first one better.

Nice shot. Would have enjoyed to se more of the lake but great shot & light!

Realism is a positive value for me in my landscape work. So many of the max-saturated photos on social media make me gag. For some fans, they probably make real sunsets look disappointing. But the view you get here is so vivid and profound that the scene seemed to deserve stronger colors and more prominent clouds. So I tweaked it a little more this time. I'll play around more with the LR Dehaze feature. I did use some, with a local brush, but didn't take it all the way. Perhaps the haze makes the far shore look more distant, and the lake larger?
