Another Feathered Friend
Lens: D-FA 28-105mm Camera: K1mII Photo Location: Atlanta, GA, US

Normally I'd post only one, but as 5 are allowed i'm seeking some advise....

framing/crop: pic 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4.

overall: edit/crop/whatever else

These were shot @105mm with various settings (see exif). I'm personally leaning towards #5 as fav, but i'm all over the place. I will say this... was first time really using that lens. It's pretty crisp at f/7.1-f/8. Thx in advance!

Pic 1 is better than pic 2 in my opinion, but I'd prefer a combination of picture 1 and 2: the position on the right side (pic 1), so the bird looks into the frame, but the head slightly closer to the edge (pic 2) (because he's looking down).

Pic 4 is better than 3, if the original image is wide enough, I'd move the bird further to the right side though.

I agree, pic 5 is the best one (maybe crop away the leaves and slightly from the top), nice captures

I prefer pic 1 from all others... I find that the big branch is getting to much importance because is very dark in pics 2 and 5, and that disturb the eyes...

second preferred would be #5, and I would crop the right side as much as possible, and reduce the top/bottom part a bit by making the image more like 16:9 or 16:10 ratio to be "in direction" with the sight of that marvelous bird...

for me its a run between #1 and #5. If pushed I'd also go for #5, it is sufficiently different from the run-of-the-mill bird portraits.

I like #4, but add some vignetting

I prefer 1 and 5. The problem I have with 2 is the bird is looking to the left and there's no space in the frame to the left. My eye follows the birds gaze and immediately runs out of image.

Thx, all!!

Here are some crops based on the feedback.
First two are of pic 1. One is @ 8x10 (4/5) other is 16:9 per suggestions.
Second is pic 5 in both ratios

Also, for fun/Mike suggestion #4 with added vignette (likely too much lol)

For #1 & #5 - A/B?
