Guacamaya superba
Lens: 105 Camera: Pentax 67 II Photo Location: Living room

Guacamaya superba, Flower of Inirida
Pentax 67II. 105 mm
HP5 in Pyro PMK

One of Colombia´s many botanical oddities are the flowers of Inirida,
a unique family of plants growing only on Caatinga-like sandy bogs.
These plants are restricted to a few very small and chemically and
physically specific areas where they can grow. Unless these conditions
are met, they won't grow. Flowers shown here are about 3" (8 cm)
wide.

....and Karl Blossfeldt, who made thousands of close-up images like this with LARGE FORMAT ... better known among graphic designers than photographers..

That’s a great composition, with this unsettling nature of the various sizes filling the frame. The light is so nice, giving a 3d look, enhancing the shapes. Background grey is pleasing and so is your focus. The only thing I’d try is bringing down some black spots to really let them show. I think the tone curve is a bit high. Great shot.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, this scan lacks i bit if punch, when compared to the print. I’ll have to devote more time to learn how to make digital versions of my prints that reflect the tonal scale of the print
