Bougainvillea No2 C&C

Often I "see" the shadows in an image first, and then look at the object casting the image. So this is an attempt to incorporate the shadows into the primary object of the image so it blends instead of simply forming the background. I'd like to hear if the Forum thinks it works or ways to do it better, maybe some examples of the technique? Looking at it now, perhaps higher f/stop to bring both parts into sharper focus?
