Please critque two of my recent photos.

Click on photos to show them full size. I took those photos in past few months on my travels. Any critique would be more than appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Personal opinion … I'd be much happier if the verticals were actually vertical in the first shot … in the second I'd prefer it if the central wall corner was also vertical!
"Arty" oblique perspectives can be all very well in the right place, but these are too subtle to be classed as such.
As I said … just my opinion

I think there should be a description with each photo telling you where and what. These are the kind of pictures you'd show friends or relatives to give them info about your trip. Like, for example, here is the sky line of this city. I stayed in the corner room of this hotel.

Otherwise, as pictures for other people, I find myself asking how did converting to BW help in the mood or expression of these scenes and what is unique or interesting that I am suppose to be looking at, for instance.

Why were these photographs made in the first place?

I think they are both fine photos as far as exposure and the black and white conversion is good, but I think the cityscape lacks an interesting subject. I think if you darkened the sky some to give it more drama, it may increase the interest. The second one is better as far as interest, but I think it would also benefit from a darker, more dramatic sky. I do wonder if it would improve the second one by including the bottom floor of the building.
