concert with K20D

I got to shoot this concert on my last trip... this was my first try with concert lighting. This is my favorite picture of the bunch. I shot at 1600 ISO so the noise is pretty noticeable. No flash, no tripod. The lighting was poor and almost all the front lighting was red. I used the K20D with FA 50 1.4 lens. I did a bit of sharpening and that's about all in PP. I thought B&W might be good too. I would like your critique and input on how to this could be improved. Thanks!

Dan

I like this shot!! Can we see it a little bigger. Those are some tough conditions but it looks like you did well.

The larger version of the picture is linked at the bottom. Hopefully it works.

Dan, what aperture & shutter speed did you use? Did you have much trouble getting an in-focus shot?

Concerning the shot, I don't think there's much use showing the whole frame. The separation between her dress & the background isn't great. I tried a close crop with head, shoulders & the two closest lights included. I think that works. What do you think?

Thanks Pat and dosdan!

For this shot the lens was at f 2 and 1/125 shutter speed. It wasn't too hard to get things in focus for me. The worst thing for me was having some blown highlights. In almost every shot there were hot spots on the faces and that's where I did my spot metering. I think next time I may have to do a -.5 EV.
