First pictures with my 31mm ltd. Not exactly what I was looking for. Seems I have had some front/back focusing issues. Not sure if it's me, the lens or the camera. C&C needed - also, is it as sharp as this lens is supposed to render? I seem to have lots of noise at even ISO 400 - my k20 is on it's way, so if it's a camera issue, the new body should solve it.

I don't think this is 100% crop.

If you want to check front / back focus, you need to look at 100% of images.

If serioulsy suspect it, you need to check on a grid.

Perhaps you might consider that 1.8 aperture is causing your problem as, the Depth of Field is lacking.
A smaller aperture surely would make a big difference here, before considering back/front focus problems.
But you will know better than I, as you will see all of your shots, but I wont

Food shots can also look better from a lower angle, that way you can take advantage of the DOF because you are shooting somewhat across the food instead of directly down on it.
