A male osprey cups his wings to catch some wind in order to bleed off airspeed as he reaches downward towards his nest.

the wing position is very good and easily conveys the birds intentions of landing. the slight movement in the wings is a plus in that it subtly implies motion. I am not too keen on the processing. The image looks like it was tone mapped and gives it an artificial feel. Perhaps reworking your post processing would give this a more natural look IMHO.

Maybe a B&W conversion would look good.

Thanks for your input. I plan to tinker with PP as time permits.

Better?

Following up on Damn Brit's suggestion, here's the image in high contrast B&W. Comments?

I'd have to say to my amateur eye the B&W is more eye popping. It has better contrast. Great shot though. Perfect timing.

I like the conversion, now personally I would crop it on the right so that the bird is centred on the RH side of the frame, that would increase the drama of the shot.

I agree...

I agree with DB and will crop some of right side.
