I don't know what to call it...
Lens: 50mm Camera: K10D ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/350s

For your pleasure and dissection, a picture I took yesterday from my trip to San Francisco. I just begun working on a portfolio for Photojournalism, so this is one of my attempts at street photography.

Bo

I dont know what to call it... but I am duly impressed. What a great photo.

I would be so proud to have shot that one.

Ageless portrait.
Just wished it were a little sharper, and the sunlight had the edge taken off it and hitting on his face, and for there to be world peace...

He don't look too pleased to see you. Rather surprised in fact.

Hm... I actually don't think he thought that way. Most of the Chinatown people look that way, really. Difficult life and age will make anyone look like that.

But <bleep> paparazzi... That hurt. But sorta true. Sigh...

Hi Bo, great shot! Really. I like the lighting. It accentuates the subject very well. If it was for print media the highlights would probably get blown out, but it wouldn't be the first time that happened.
I like it in B&W:

Keep shooting; you've got a good eye.

Great image and shows despair, the b&w version Steve posted lacks contrast, then I like contrasty B&W

Thanks... but I kind of think b&w does lack contrast - like taff said.
It's hard, since his face is in the shadows, while background is lit... So if you want to lift contrast - you kind of have to make his face darker, or background lighter - and I already think his face is somewhat dark (that's good for the picture, actually).
I did actually desat a bit - so it's "closer" to b&w than color

Oh, and I think I forgot to sharpen it after I resized the picture. So, while all tiny details are pin-sharp, overall it looks a tad soft.

Agreed and it was just a quickie B&W conversion. And uploading as an attachment doesn't help. I wasn't trying to show off just playing with some other B&W stuff at the time and liked the image in general.

regards
