Nice one.
The subject contrasts nicely with the dark background, which is quite dramatic.
The B&W conversion is good, though perhaps a little too dark.
The subject's a little too central - perhaps could have been off-centre on a landscape format - just a thought (not necessarily an improvement).

I'm a sucker for B&W, so this really works for me. Just a couple of things: my eye gets pulled by the solid black and sharp angle at the bottom right. Since you included it, I'm guessing you had a reason. Also, I'm with Ash that I'd like to see a bit more range in the "ground" perhaps a bit lighter to balance the sky a bit,
