Mother and Kid
Lens: 200mm Camera: Pentax K10D ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/250s Aperture: F16

Shot this a few minutes before sunset. Light was low. Shake reduction saved me, as I did not carry the tripod. Please do let me know what you think about this family.

Interesting images. Where were these taken?

The first image looks a little over processed to me. There is like a halo around the elephants. I like the composition in both of these though.

I'm afraid the first is quite unattractive. Oversharpened amongst other problems...
The second one looks more reasonable although there's no features about it that make me look twice at the photo.
Keep at it.

It's odd that you say the light was low, when it seems you had enough light to shoot f/16 at 1/250th.

Definitely overprocessed on the first one, looks unrealistic in a not-so-appealing manner.

Second one would be better if you had waited for the big one to turn around so we could see it's face.

Thanks for your comments

Thanks. Fixcinater, good observation. exif was mixed up, my mistake. f 3.5, ISO 100, Focal length 80mm, Tv 125. The first one I messed up the exposure when converting from RAW to JPEG. The pictures were taken from inside an open jeep at an Elephant sanctuary in Srilanka. The name of the place is Wudawalave. I have attached a better version of the picture 1. Thanks again for all to have taken your time to explain. The lens was Sigma 70-200. It was scary when tens of Elephants surrounded the Jeep, but went their way after some time.

That's much better! Now I can see hills in the distance and it's more in context. Thanks for reposting.

I think the only problem with the original is the dark foreground. All the other edits aren't needed. This is a very beautiful picture once the fg is brightened up.
