Landscape of leaves
Lens: 50mm Camera: k10d

I know these arent very interesting. They were some quick shots from the road. I only had a couple minutes as I was on my way to an appointment. Help me make better pics please.

I prefer the first over the second to do some serious reframing work with. Try a mirror image and crop to bring the barn to the right and the line of hill moving from left to right. I have a quick n' dirty example I can PM if you want,

Keep practicing, and bear in mind some of the simple rules of making good photos:
Simple is better - Have no more than a discernible subject and a background in a photo - etc.

Interesting subjects do help, but you can get a long way by knowing about the appealing properties of light and capturing your subjects in a creative way with lighting.

I would crop both from the bottom - I find there is too much foreground.

On the first image I would also crop from the left getting rid of the fence.

I would then increase contrast to make the image "pop".

That contrast thing made a big difference. The color really seemed to pop.

Get in closer to the barn in shot 1, and lose some of the lawn in the foreground.
