The Ortiz Place
Lens: 18mm Camera: K2000 ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/4s Aperture: F4.5

The shot was taken around 6pm and it was dark. Is this the right settings to go
during dark? F4.5 on a landscape shot? I cant go on iso 1600 (dont want more noise). and cant hold the shutter longer so i go with the widest aperture.

I assume you used a tripod, so you could safely use a longer shutter speed and a smaller aperture for more depth of field, and a lower ISO for less noise.

The sky is blown too much IMHO. The contrast in the scene is difficult to deal with. One option would be to take two shots, one like you did, and the otherone with less exposure, and then sandwich them together in Photoshop. The other option is also hard to get right - that would be to use a neutral graduated filter. I perfer the sandwich technique, since I have never had any luck with the grad filter.

I'd maybe try to crop a bit from the top, other than that it's good.
Just shame of the really blown highlights on the top left.

About the only help in situations like this is a graduated neutral density filter (www.cokin.com among others). With a rotating frame, you can tone down the light over the ridgeline and balance out your exposure to a fair extent. I like the composition.
