Almost there for me...

The biggest issue I have with this image is that the subject (foliage in focus) is shoved too far to the edge of the frame. My eyes were searching for the subject to hone into for a little while there. Better IMO is the top right location, giving the stalk room also to lead into the tuft above it.

The lighting is pleasant and the colours well rendered.
Keep at it, this is a good attempt.
The background is reasonably well controlled but still does appear distracting to the inconspicuous subject.

Thank You Ash! I'm just starting to get the hang of DOF control. How about this one?

First image: I'm with Ash, subject isn't obvious, I keep looking at that curly stalk near the middle at the bottom. You just need to work on the composition (and maybe the title).

Second image is rather pleasant. Nice and simple, some would say having the one of the stalks come out of the corner of the frame as a lead in line would be better. But they're about
a third of the way in and they stop about a third of the way from the top so I think that's just as good. The water looks good as well. Nice work.
