Into the Light

This is a high contrast shot I took at Woodland Park Zoo in July. Looking for critique and suggestions. I'm also curious what type of bird this is if anyone knows - it's from the tropical aviary and I have not seen it again in many trips back.

No idea on the bird, but the image is alright.
Where I find it needs improvement is microcontrast on the details of the feathers, a smore subdued saturation of colours and a revised composition with perhaps a crop.
The cyan is definitely overexposed and oversaturated, producing harsh blown highlights and loss of important texture detail.
Cropping from the right would improve balance and remove that distracting OOF foliage in the frame.

Thanks Ash. I definitely overexposed the shot, the subject was in a beam of direct sunlight and I overcompensated for the surrounding darkness. Ah well. Thanks for your assistance, the crop on the right should help.
