Hi Rusty,

The exposure seems well selected, maybe step down to 5.6 or even f/8 and see if the speed still holds it... maybe that'd give you more details...

The compostion is okay, i'm not too crazy about it, but it is not bad.

The moment is great, love the action going on.

Now the P&B conversion i did no like at all... i was expecting something more like a nice contrasty B&W...

Later

Thank you very much for the Suggestion & CC.
What do you mean by P&B conversion?
Ill try adding more contrast later.

Rusty,

For this Siberian a very cool PP would be to do a portrait in B&W except for those ice- blue eyes. The emphasis on the dog's most striking feature would make a great shot, I think. Give it a try, I'd love to see the result.

Others have spoken to the composition etc, but the B&W conversion isn't working very well IMO. Before adding the sepia tone in the original image you need to get the very best B&W conversion first, then work with the tone. What conversion technique are you using? You're losing a lot of tone gradation in there, in addition to adding a blue cast. Without color the detail and contrast become even more critical. I've been working mostly on B&W for the past several months and I'd be happy to pass on some specifics if you would like if you have Photoshop,

Thx for the CC. I do have a photoshop cs4 essential but dont know how to use it.
Im using lightroom 2.6. What are the keys in making a better B&W? I can send you the file if you wanna try it out.

rusty, send me the best quality color original and I'll play around with it in CS4 and send back the B&W with the PS Edit Log that will lay out the steps,
Brian
