Des pas sur la neige

I'm looking for some critique on this photo. I wanted a cold, "dark" look, but I'm not sure if I literally made the photo too dark if you understand me.

Agreed, too dark. I don't know how bright your original is, but this almost looks like this was taken through sunglasses rather than in the evening. Good detail, though. I think you could fix it easily without a re-shoot.

The gradual darkening at the bottom of the photo is distracting too. Almost looks like the end of a building's shadow or something.

2nd image is much better...
Try to add around +1EV for snow images. But, keep a little space on your histogram on the right. You can bring it the last little bit in Post. And therefore preserve the highlights (90% of a snow image).

If you are not opposed to more manipulation, maybe you can play around with curves, as well as the curves for Blue. I find that the blueish hue gives that cold, and dark impression. however, it also makes it surreal...

That's funny Tim, I got to pretty much the same point with the dark version. I didn't crop though.
