top one looks good, but it's colourless. Kinda drab. Love the exposure, and the "valley" on the right enphasizing more peaks. I prefer that one's composition overall, with more sky and water showing, but perhaps there's a tad too much water.

Second one looks... weird. It's got brighter colours, but the mountain on the left is all speckled, almost looks like unsharp-ing artifacts. Exposure seems uneven. The sky is a great blue, but the haze over the rear mountains has also picked up an annoying blue tint to it and didn't really gain any contrast compared to the rest of the scene. Don't like how you cropped off the water, it feels unbalanced to me compared to the sky.

I think maybe a middle ground between the two in terms of saturation and brightness would work better. Same with compsition.

Thanks for your comments, GoremanX. Tried to make something in the middle.

Version #3.

personally, I think that's a vast improvement over the first 2. The sky looks blue, the clouds stand out, the mountain is bright without being blatantly speckled and the water looks serene without overbalancing the sky.

Of course, I'm sure others will have their own comments, and not everyone will agree with me

Maybe its just my monitors but I do run them bright although Spyder 3 calibrated. The first looks very realistic, the second appears as the black level was pumped a little too much, maybe saturation also. The third may be best as it adds a little pop to the realistic one IMO.

I like the composition of the first, with more emphasis placed on the water, and how you can see a bit more of the reflection. I like the PP of #3 the best, although perhaps would like it just a little more contrasty.
Have you considered doing a black and white version too? I like the colour, but I think that B&W would be nice aswell. I had a quick go at a B&W conversion on #1, would you mind if I uploaded it to show you?

cheers,

Please do upload the B&W, goddo31. I don't mind at all.

imtheguy, yes, the first one was as I remember it. But I had some feedback that "it's boring" so I took a stab at the second version.

Here you go. Hopefully I haven't destroyed the quality too much. Just an idea, I'm sure this conversion could be improved a fair bit.

I like the black and white out of the four shots. There's good texture in the mountain and the sky stands out incredibly well against the water; which also has good textural usage in it.

Yes, this is a good shot for me to practice B&W conversion on. I will get around to it eventually.

goddo31, thanks for your interest. I doubt I'll produce anything better than you did with the B&W conversion, however I will post it here when done. I have a sizeable backlog of photographs to process though, so it might be a while.
