Just received my K-7 and Voigtlander 2/40mm. Being my first DSLR I'm not sure if I'm doing it right and would appreciate any critique to help me identify proper basic technique. Thank you.

-the shutter speed was actually 1/80.

What's the subject here, exactly? Is it the decapitated tree? Or the watering can? The background is about as blah as can be.

I wish there was more of the tree visible, and that it was all on a more interesting background. I think this picture would work wat better in B&W.

The subject started as the watering can and then I just did whatever...

I completely agree that the background is blah

So, have an interesting subject and have an interesting background, lesson learned.

this poor tree has been really touchy lately, probably doesn't like all the pictures I've been taking of it since I bought my camera.
