Yosemite Valley (Half Dome clouded over)
Lens: 18mm Camera: K-x Photo Location: Yosemite ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/150s Aperture: F16

Wondering which one looks better (the first is straight from the camera settings...the second I changed the white balance to "cloudy")

The mountains in the second one have a really blueish tinge, and I don't really like that, so I suppose I would go with the first one. White balance settings are always tricky, that's why I always put it on auto, and if it doesn't look right I just leave it the way the camera took it. Works for me though!

Are you shooting in raw or jpg? Cause I think if you shoot raw, the white balance setting has no effect as it all done in the raw conversion.IMHO

I also agree that the mountains have a unnatural blueish hue to them, if you could fix this with some PP it would be better. Also, maybe you could add a little contrast to make the photo pop more, because to me the photo just doesn't scream wow when I look at.

Post Processing. i.e. Photoshop. In photoshop's camera raw, adjusting the white balance is easy. Use the eye dropper which is the WB select tool and click on the whitest spot on the scean. I'm sure you can do it on a JPG as well but off the top I don't remember where it is.
