Hi Everyone,
I'm planning a couple of workshops this year: one in mid-central Utah and another in SW Utah and N. Arizona. The main difference is that I've expanded the workshop to encompass more time, yet keeping the pricing very close to the 2009 workshops.
2010 UTAH WORKSHOP
Sept. 20th – Sept. 26th, 2010
Goblin Valley, Arches National Park, Cathedral Valley, Capitol Reef National Park
Price is $795 per person. Previous workshop attendees will receive a 10% discount. Come join us in the wilds of Utah to photograph Goblin Valley, Arches National Park and one of the most spectacular, yet least known/visited parks: Capitol Reef National Park. Capitol Reef has some of the most varied landscapes within Utah: natural stone bridges, unusual sandstone formations in Cathedral Valley and the towering bluffs of Grand Wash. You'll be impressed with the phenomenal beauty of each of these locations. We will immerse ourselves into photography and tackling the sometimes-difficult lighting conditions you’ll encounter during the workshop. You will be challenged into thinking outside the realm of tradition with your photography – this is where you will be able to practice sunrise & sunset techniques, high dynamic range shooting and night timed exposures - for starters! When applicable and when time permits: we will have reviews & image critique, sometimes informal. The best option is to consider car pooling with your fellow photographers and renting a higher clearance and/or 4 wheel drive vehicle if possible. This allows people to get to know one another during our travels! Preliminary Workshop Schedule for Sept. 20th – Sept. 26th, 2010 (schedule is subject to change) 1. Monday, Sept 20th - travel to Green River or Hanksville, UT. Meet and greet at 5PM, dinner then slideshow/lecture. 2. Tuesday, Sept. 21st: Early AM departure to Goblin Valley State Park. Return to Green River for lunch and early afternoon review. Head out to Goblin Valley for sunset shoot, timed exposures. 3. Wednesday, Sept. 22nd: Early AM departure to Arches National Park. 4. Thursday, Sept. 23rd: leave for Cathedral Valley and possible camp out overnight. 5. Friday/ Saturday, Sept. 24th – 25th: Travel to Torrey, UT. Capitol Reef National Park and surrounding area as schedule/weather permits. 5. Sunday, Sept. 26th: early Sunday AM shoot – hike up to Hickman Bridge. Have lunch then depart shortly thereafter. So what’s different about this workshop, compared to other workshops?
1.
Serious photographic instruction. Intense yet amicable and personalized approach to teaching. You’ll also have input, suggestions and informal instruction, including flexible instruction topics to suit photographers of any skill level.
2. Structure is important, yet pacing and flexibility that will suit everyone's photographic needs and allow us to chase the light not being nailed down to a specific daily routine.
3. An environment conducive to learning from one another—no question is off limits, no inquiry too basic.
4.
We respect the environment when we travel. As much as is possible, we try to reduce impact on the places that we visit. We try to practice “Leave No Trace” due to the fragile desert or semi-desert environment.
PAYMENT Pricing is for the workshop only. You are responsible for any other costs (meals, lodging and travel). The workshop cost includes all park permits, fees and mandatory National Park insurance while within any National Park – each permit is specific to a National Park. The insurance is separate from your travel insurance. Please review the terms and conditions here: Workshop Terms & Conditions You may consider using the option to pay for the workshop via PayPal. A deposit of $400 is due immediately to confirm sign up and your place in the workshop. The balance of $395 is due no later than August 15th. You also have the option to pay in full at sign up. Failure to pay the balance by the due date could cause you to forfeit your spot in the workshop. Please confirm availability before sending payment. GROUP SIZE: 6 minimum and 10 maximum - sign up soon if you are interested! Please contact Marc first to confirm space is available in the workshop.
After the workshop concludes, I will print one 12x18 image on an Epson 9880 series wide format inkjet printer on professional stock paper for you and mail it to you.
