The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta starts this weekend--its 38th year. The Balloon Fiesta used to be the most photographed event in the world, and was co-sponsored by Kodak. I don't hear as much about it as a photographer's destination these days. Is anyone coming down to photograph it?

Was there about 4 years ago now, It was FANTASTIC. I loved shooting it and even have a photo in PPG of it shot with an "old" *ist-D and 24mm F2

I suggest having something wide if your walking amoung the inflating balloons and the Mass-assension, but a med tell is great too if your at a distance or for once they are in the air (200mm max needed for most)

We had considered going to Abq for the Balloon Fiesta, but decided the budget liked Maine better Gene. We did go every year when we lived in Abq though (92-96) and it is indeed an awesome event. I've heard there have been losts of weather problems/delays this year though...
