I have mixed emotions about this 'event.' Kelby is no friend to Pentax and we have the world wide Pentax days. Oh, I'll probably go out with my local group and shoot but like I said, I'm sorta of mixed emotions on this one.

Lots of people switched back then plus CPN and NPS were sucking up like crazy to build their stable of ambassadors, he's still the same person just different equipment.

Listen guys it's just a reason to get people in your area to do a photo walk, you can register your area and setup a place and meet new friends.

Apparently he used to be known as "the Pentax guy" and then jumped ship. Turncoat!

You know that's his call to make. I wish him well no matter what gear he chooses to use or hock. I think his books and videos are great and I've always found them helpful. Sorry, but I don't think Kelby deserves that label. He seems to be a nice guy and has really helped a lot of people learn to be better photographers. If his being sponsored by someone else gets more of those videos made and helps more people then so be it. Whatever works for him, that's his business, shrug.

I was just kidding. I never knew a thing about it until I looked up why anyone would say "he's not a friend to Pentax". I couldn't care less -- all power to him.

I know, but I just wanted to step up here and say that because really he's a friend to all photographers and graphic artists he really is. Check out his website and you'll see what I mean. Tons of great info and other stuff. I like Kelby. I've learned a lot watching his tutorials and reading his books over the years.

Hi Gang: Just for the record, I am NOT sponsored by Nikon and never have been, and I buy my gear just like everybody else. I have both Nikon and Canon cameras and lenses (though the Canon gear was a birthday gift from my Publisher).
That being said, my last film camera was a Pentax DSLR and I loved it! My personal thanks for magkelly for the kind words. I appreciate it more than you know. Best, -Scott Kelby
