Bought the K5IIs (body only) yesterday from my local Pentax dealer for $1030. This was after negotiations with CR Kennedy a week earlier, had to wait for a shipment. Happy with this

Good stuff mate. It's a fine tool. Just test drove it myself at a rodeo, and the focus tracking of fast moving subjects is now very much doable even in low light. Using ISO 6400 still has its challenges shooting in these conditions at night. But it's pretty hard to beat with fast lenses.

What sort of negotiations? The K-5IIs can be had from DWI for $902 +$21 shipping (that doesn't include a genuine warranty) but the cheapest I have been quoted locally was from MyCameraFocus for $1099.

MyCameraFocus also isn't an Australian "real store" supplied by CRK.
I was looking at them to get the Q-K converter as they're the only AU site to list it at all.

but ......In their blurb in the FAQ page it says: Frequently Asked Questions | Digital Camera accessories

Do you charge Goods and Services Tax (GST) ?

No. Our internet store sells imported stock so we do not charge GST. Point of sale is from overseas, unless otherwise arranged before ordering.

.
...... so it's just basically a middleman in Perth for someone like DWI anyway.

I guess this means (hypothetically if you ordered) when your K-5IIs would come in with an invoice stating $1099 AU customs would go Aha!! that's over the 1000 limit and send you a bill for the GST and processing fee before you'd get it. Thus bringing the total up to about 1200-odd.

I don't know how strict they are on the 1000AUD limit. I've kept all the orders I've done a bit under just in case.

According to the owner of that store they are supplied with local Pentax and Sigma stock from CR Kennedy but their Nikon stock is Parallel Imported AFAIK.

K-5 IIs with Tamron 70-200 at the Goondiwindi show rodeo:

A fine camera and very responsive. AF-C and predictive focusing are genuinely good features now.

Looks like the Pentax lens price rise just arrived at the Pentax Australia Webstore. I was ready to buy another Limited lens in a week or so and now prices are a couple of hundred bucks greater.

Dammit I had an FA31 in the cart yesterday but hesitated to cook up a story for the missus. It's bigger than the ltd so she'd be able to pick it out.

I had things on eBay to fund an FA43 but they didn't sell.

You might do well to pick up second hand Ltds from the forum marketplace.

Welcome wmf2012 (catchy user name. )!

Please tell me you're a coffee drinking Melbournian. I'm in country QLD and for all that I love where I live, I do miss having lots of coffee to pick from (and I was in Brissy).
