Where to get the K7?

Hello Pentax'ians

I just joined this forum. I am planning to purchase my first DSLR this year and have zeroed in on the K7. I wanted something not mind-blowingly expensive and one that reminds me of the old Yashica Electro 35 I once used. After owning an Canon S5IS, and Lumix Lx3 I have realized that I still yearn for a heavy and sturdy camera with the old fashioned minimalist and tactile manual feel. Not sure if the K7 will give me all of these either (especially the gritty tactile feel of turning the film advance lever), but after going through a few reviews I think the K7 would be a good start?

Please see my introduction in the introductions section of the forum (yet to be approved post).

Now the challenge is how to procure it and the associated lenses. I live in Bengaluru. I think I will start with an 18-55mm lens and would like to add another lens that goes up to 300mm. Budget can stretch to 80 - 90k for new. I am in no hurry to buy so it can wait, but figured I would start the process of planning now with some pointers from you folks.

Thanks in Advance

Make that the K-5 not the K-7, never really checked out the reviews for K-5 until now. I see some K-5 owners here. Please enlighten where you purchased it from.

Thanks

A MULTITUDE of "For Sale" posts and purchase queries/negotiations have been deleted from this thread.

Please remember that all sales and offers to buy must take place in the Forum Marketplace and are not allowed to take place in this or other "non-marketplace" threads.

My Pentax F-100-300 Auto focus lens is infested with Fog ( not fungus ) between the lens elements. Several camera repairers in Mumbai are unable to help ! Any cure/ suggestion ?

That truly is the only thing you can do with a lens that has fogged up internally. Fogging of a lens is a common problem with lenses in the tropics, and is caused by years of moisture condensing and combining with the lens coatings on the internal surfaces. To get the fog off, you will have to remove the coatings, regrind and repolish the lens internal surfaces, then recoat them. And still there is no guarantee that the lens will perform to original spec. Would also be much cheaper to buy a FA 80-320 or Sigma equivalent than spend all that money on a lens that wasn't a very good lens to begin with. The only way to store lenses in the tropics is a drying cabinet, for this exact reason.

Hi Pentaxians in India, especially in Gurgaon. I will be there for business trip for a week from tomorrow until next Wednesday, so was thinking if can meet up with local Pentaxians there during this weekend. I didn't bring my gears but it would be great to know more Pentaxians and to network. I've been doing freelance photography for a while and you can check out my website here.

Send me a message if you are free to meet up, I am staying in the Leela Kempinski Gurgoan.

Nitin, you have a * lens already and won't be satisfied with other consumer grade lenses. May be a 50-135/2.8? If you can get a used 70-200/2.8, that would be nice as well.
as suggested by siva.ss.kumar, getting DA* 50-135mm next week.

I am in chennai, planning on getting a K-r.

Citi cameras, Konica dont deal with Pentax, and Shetala told there is not enough service network and warranty - they suggest Nikon or Canon.

Is it worth the hassle to buy and maintain/service a camera, which does not have a support network in India?
