New Generation Of Pentaxians

So, I started this thread because I was wondering if there are any Pentax users around my age on the forum..I'm 18, will be 19 in June. I started using Pentax because I bought my first Takumar lens a few months ago, then I started reading this forum and I bought a K10D off of the marketplace. I only have manual lenses as I like the feel of the metal rather than the new plastic ones. Anyway, are there any active users on this forum who are around my age or am I one-of-a-kind? hahaha

I started using Pentax when I was 20 something. Now I'm old ( ) at 33... but I feel I'm part of that "new generation" since I never used a DSLr before the K20D.

Alas, can't myself claim to be part of the new generation, but this is a terrific idea & I hope it takes off.

Good luck with your group. I started using a Pentax when I was 21, but don't qualify because that was 1961.

You're at a good age to start using Pentax.

I was 22 when I bought my first Pentax and I will be 57 in a few days time!

I wish you as many happy years as I've had so far with Pentax.

The K10D is my first DSLR, i'm excited about trying it out and getting much better results than all of the point and shoots I've used so far

Been using a Pentax since 14, when I bought a K-m with my birthday money. Never looked back.
Now I'm 18 and the four years in Pentax world has taught me more about photography then anyone else could have.

The K10D can be used in fully manual mode - I do it often - but the standard viewfinder focus screen is not ideal for manual focus. I like the colour treatments native to the CCD sensor, but can also appreciated the advantages of a CMOS sensor, which I don't have, in particular the high ISO. I don't find the digital noise as bothersome as some for the simple reason that just about any digital camera's high ISO noise is no where near the grain of high speed film.

I grew up focusing with the original, 1957 Pentax which had a plain matte screen, and still prefer that. I installed an LL-60 screen in my K10D, and still like it very much. It is darker that the standard DSLR screen, and the matte is a bit coarser. I have little problem focusing my M lenses with this screen. The LL-60 has a grid on the thirds, which I find really useful - not for the thirds - for keeping my trees standing up instead of leaning over.

Yeah, i'll stick with the regular focusing screen for now, otherwise i'd like the plain matte screen so nothing is in the was of how the image actually looks, no lines or graphs or anything

I started using my dad's old LX when i was 14, got a K-m for graduation when i was 15, i'm 19 now. And i agree that metal lenses feel much better.
