Had the opportunity to visit the Neon Museum last September. The tours are guided and take about 1 hour to complete. They're pretty strict on photo-taking though. No tripods, large camera cases, and no lagging behind the group. Our guide was firm following the policy but did allow ample time for picture taking. I stayed in the back of the pack to get pics without other tourists in the images. Good for photo taking, but you'll miss the guide talking about the history of all the old signs. I do recommend buying tickets online before you go. The tours do sell out and I did see disappointed folks walking away.
It's definitely worth the money and after the tour you're in walking distance of Fremont Street (Old Vegas).
