I would do what the original explorers did and take a case of scotch. ok that was for months. But enough for the days in between.

Ah! But with the 28-105 on the KP and the 150-450 on the K-1 Mark II the gap isn't there

I'd take two filters: a ND grad filter [the dynamic range between snow on land and bright skies can be difficult to tame] and a strong ND for long exposure work.
I have two soft gradient ND's (2 and 4 stop), and two ND's (6 and 10 stop). Which would you recommend? This would essentially be just for the 15-30, but I could adapt them to fit the 28-105 as well

By the way, it's now less than two weeks until I leave for Buenos Aires.

I have recently acquired two high-transmittance C-PL filters - 62mm for the 28-105 and 86mm for the 150-450. Not cheap. In addition, two new Peak Design Capture Clips will help carry the cameras on my old LowePro S&F belt.

The basic lens stable is pretty much set in stone: DA10-17, DFA15-30, DA*55, DFA28-105 and DFA150-450. I'm tempted to throw in a couple of DA Limiteds into my checked luggage to make up an urban walk-around kit for Buenos Aires.

All in all it looks like will fit in my luggage, and will stay under the weight limits. Can't wait!

The 4 stop ND grad and the 10 stop ND should work nicely. A thought did occur to me, are you taking a polariser?

I have a Lee 150 polariser for the 15-30, but I'm not sure whether I'll take it. Feel free to convince me

As mentioned above, I'll have polarisers for the 28-105 and 150-450, and I might throw in a 49mm C-PL for the DA Limiteds.

That will work - many consider polarisers on lenses wider than 28mm to be an acquired taste.

I went to Antarctica a few years ago from Ushuia down to the peninsula. Cold was not much of a problem, but weather proofing is essential. The DA*300 F4 was a little bit too short for some shots, so I am quite jealous of you considering the 150-450, but it can be bit awkward to handle on a small Zodiac. Consider a1.4 TC and 300 for a more compact kit. But you can definitely use the 150-450 from the ship itself

I wished I had a wireless remote for the camera. On a tripod with a remote and wide angle you could get very interesting shots since you are not allowed the wildlife, but they will approach you or your camera

Enjoy. It is trip of a life time

I'm done considering. It's packed already

It's already in the bag too. Unfortunately it only works with the K-1, not the KP.

I would also consider shooting in b&w if you can. There is not a lot of colour in Antarctica and I found my b&w shots less distracting than some of the colour ones. Also the colour temperature of the lighting is pretty weird at times, especially the closer you get to the south pole, where it's light for most of the day.

I ended up rotating between shooting colour and b&w every zodiac landing, so I would get a mixture of both.

Phil.

PS have a great trip, you'll never forget the experience!

For those who are still interested, I leave today for Buenos Aires!

Final kit is K-1 Mark II and KP (with battery grip), plus chargers and spare batteries.
DA10-17, DFA15-30, DFA28-105, DA*55, DFA150-450 and also DA15, 21, 35 and 70 Limiteds for urban walk arounds.
Lee 150 filters (Grad ND and Big Stopper) for the DFA15-30, two 49mm filters (C-PL and 10 stop ND) for the DA Limiteds, and 62mm and 86mm polarisers for the other zooms.
PD Everyday Backpack, Tamrac VeloCity 5x, Sirui tripod. 12" Laptop for storage and PP.

It all fits, and is within weight restrictions. There's even room for clothes and travel sickness medications

Thanks to all for suggestions, guidance and indulgence. Photos to follow.

I haven't made to Antarctica yet (that happens on Wednesday), but Iguazu Falls is proving a useful warm up for the kit.
