Originally posted by MRRiley btw Robert... 9am on a Monday morning is the HEIGHT of the rush hour here in the DC area. If you are heading away from DC at that time you will probably be OK, but if ANY of your escape from DC involves driving toward DC, leave much earlier... 7am at the latest. Only problem with this is then you catch the rush hour in Baltimore...
I am well aware of rush hours. My plan is to leave DC around 9 am to get to Baltimore around 10+. Stop for breakfast and then continue to NY and do some stops along the way. We will probably arrive to NY around 3 to 4 pm, if weather contitions permit. Anyway, the rental agreement is open to drop the car as late as 9 pm without extra charge.
BTW, our hotel in DC is in Silver Spring MD (north of DC), so when leaving, we will be going north and will not have to go trough DC.
Thanks for your suggestions. As of now, all matters have been considered and taken care off, except of course, the weather conditions on those days. Just hope for good weather. I don't mind cold or snow... but please, no blizzards or snow falling while driving.
